The Holy Grail of suspension technology, our exclusive Brain rear shock senses the terrain you’re riding on and automatically shifts your suspension from firmly efficient to fully active, or anywhere in between. For 2006 we’ve enhanced the already proven Brain Fade technology: Simply turn the blue knob to customize the ride feel for increased compliance or maximum efficiency.

How does it know? Bump forces from the ground activate a special inertia valve inside the Brain, which opens the shock, giving you suspension compliance. When the bike is rolling across flat ground, the inertia valve stays closed, preventing oil flow and firming up the rear suspension. When you hit a bump, it pops open our proprietary rear shock for instant compliance. Our new Brain Fade technology, found on all Epic and some Stumpjumper models, allows any rider to choose between maximum compliance and incredible efficiency with the simple turn of a shock-mounted knob. So now our Brain’s not just smarter, it’s easily tweaked.
